Courteney Handy followed her passion of writing after spending time with her first-grade teacher, Ms. Prescott, who helped inspire her to write and develop a love for language. She is a senior at the Institute for American Indian Arts and plans to graduate with a bachelor of fine arts in creative writing in the Fall of 2017. Following graduation, she will be going after her masters of fine arts at IAIA and hopes to pursue a career in editing or writing. Her work has been featured in Orion creative writing magazine (2015), and the Santa Fe Literary Review (2016). Her poetry has also appeared all over the Santa Fe Community College (2015-2016). She was also published in the 2017 IAIA Anthology Sonder.
