Lyric Snodgrass

Biography

Lyric Snodgrass is a creative writing major from the Chemehuevi Reservation in Southern California. Snodgrass transferred to the Institute of American Indian Arts in fall of 2017 from the Santa Fe University of Art and Design. While at SFUAD, they were the poetry editor for the spring 2018 student anthology “Chrysalism.” Their published works include a sonnet in the SFUAD literary magazine and two short stories entered in the IAIA Chronicle’s Scary Stories to Tell in The Dark contest.

Though they love creative writing, Snodgrass has plans to pursue a graduate degree in linguistics after graduating from IAIA. By earning degrees in both linguistics and creative writing, they hope to help revitalize the Chemehuevi language as well as publish their own short stories and books of poetry.

When they aren’t studying or working in the library part-time, Snodgrass prefers to spend their free time playing video games or watching old episodes of “Star Trek” online and, nerdily enough, writing fanfiction.
