Have Fun This October

This October, locals and visitors to New Mexico can engage in fun, ghostly entertainment taking place in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque. You can “Freak or Treat,” go on a ghost walk, or visit a haunted house.

Last October, Meow Wolf of Santa Fe, hosted its Halloween spectacular, House of Halloween””an exciting event within the 70-room hands-on exhibit where guests can climb through a dryer, walk through a fridge, and play musical mushrooms. Over 80 artists and performers took over the exhibit in costume interacting with visitors.

This year, the freakiness returns with Meow Wolf’s Freak or Treat. Halloween at Meow Wolf will include five nights of performances with new performers, new characters, and a new storyline in which guests interact with performers to uncover Halloween stories. The performances begin at 6 p.m. and are free of charge with general admission.

Trick or Treat for Kids

Meow Wolf will host their first ever trick or treat inside the exhibition, October 31, all day for children 12 and under. Out of state youth tickets cost $14, while New Mexico youth tickets cost $12. At least one adult must accompany the child, though two adults may accompany the child for free. Only youth tickets will be sold on Halloween, and only 100 will be sold per hour.

Meow Wolf’s venue, voted as one of the top ten best venues to see performance’s in the country by Yelp, will also be hosting nightly parties leading up to the trick or treating day. Attendees are being encouraged to go all out on costumes. There will be a $500 cash prize for the best costume and a trophy for each winner.

  • October 31, 8 p.m.-Midnight””Golden Dawn Arkestra, a cosmic afro-psych cult band. Featuring our final $500 Costume Contest ($25 advance, $30 day of show).

Reserve a Ghost Tour

Albuquerque’s Old Town, voted one of the top 100 fun things to do in Albuquerque by Fundreds, guests of all ages can participate in the historical ghost walk led by a professional tour-guide on a 90-minute, lantern-lit walk searching for ghosts from Albuquerque’s historical past.

Digital cameras are encouraged during the tour, and at the end of the tour, guests can decide for themselves if ghosts exist. Ghost tour of Old Town is located at 303 Romero St. NW, Plaza Don Luis – Space # N-120 in Albuquerque.

Experience Expo New Mexico’s Haunted House

Albuquerque will be featuring other spooky events this October, including the Dragons House of Horror, the only haunted house without lines for a quicker and easier entrance, offering tickets online and for will call entrance. The house operates from October 4 and runs Tuesday through Saturday nights until November 1””gates opening for adults at 6 p.m. 12 and under are $10 from 4-6 p.m. providing a less scary event for youth. This event takes places at Expo New Mexico, on 300 San Pedro Dr. NE in Albuquerque.
